Everybody is talking about Continuous Delivery (CD) these days. In most of the conferences that I attended CD was a topic being discussed amongst developers or DevOps. I worked on a couple of projects recently and had some interesting observations. I think that CD is not just about DevOps being involved and QA is not just about testing. It in fact is a confluence of both those roles and many Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-32056139157502021482013-05-29T10:56:00.000+01:002013-05-29T10:56:21.326+01:00Performance does matter
Assumptions -- This is my experience on a Web based Java application. There will be a separate post around Stress and Load testing.
When you start off on a project, it is very easy to forget about performance testing and the significance of it.
I tried my best to sell the idea of performance testing to the business but failed initially. The lesson I learned was to talk in the language of the Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-32533821062724253852011-01-12T11:52:00.002+00:002011-01-12T12:05:47.904+00:00Diamonds are foreverI never really appreciated the value of a diamond until I worked on this project with a client who grades and inscribes diamonds.
I was pulled into this project to modify their existing reporting system around invoicing. They also wanted to change their printers to a better brand. These printers were specially designed to print only on chip based cards.
This project was really exciting because Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-74466287438322878172010-11-26T16:53:00.000+00:002010-11-26T16:53:55.784+00:00Cross functional teams - Future shape of a team structure ?A typical traditional team structure consisted of a Business Analyst, Quality Analyst, Developer, Database specialist, Operations / IT support. These project roles were very well defined and the people associated used to strictly stick to their tasks. This leads to situations where a developer very often worries less about the quality of the system as he/she thinks that it was the task of Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-26596646756461163972010-09-20T16:35:00.000+01:002010-09-20T16:35:16.877+01:00The wonderful world of DeutschlandMy client was situated in a beautiful town called Heidelberg in Germany. Once again I was lucky to have met such wonderful talented people and made some great friends.
The client was basically a consumer price comparison website for house hold gas, electricity and telecommunication. It took off as a startup 10 years ago and has grown to a medium sized family based business to become one of Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-38730811451145081002010-05-29T19:38:00.000+01:002010-05-29T19:38:35.615+01:00One of my smallest yet a challenging project using Citrix machinesRecently I worked on a project for a car insurance company. It was very exciting in terms of the domain as I have not worked in the Insurance domain before. So there was some learning in that end. It was one of the best clients I have worked with; right from the management to down below, everybody was very co-operative in helping us out with all the infrastructure and also about the domain / Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-21004036769820758482010-04-01T22:48:00.000+01:002010-04-01T22:48:04.936+01:00My experiences on an Open Source Distributed Agile projectThis project called RapidFTR was interesting because we all worked towards a good cause of supporting children who get separated from their families during disasters. So people at ThoughtWorks who were in between projects initially volunteered to help out building the applicationas part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility.
It was also exciting in terms of me being the lone QA for Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2555158920872861686.post-53236962525523404962010-04-01T22:21:00.000+01:002010-04-01T22:21:13.109+01:00My first code jamI attended my first code jam as an Agile Quality Analyst last week in our ThoughtWorks London office. It was a great experience and learnt quiet a bit to take forward to future code jams.
The code jam was conducted for a project called RapidFTR which is a child finder application to reunite children who get separated from their families during natural disasters.
The developers spent a lot of Srinivas Murtyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09612345159999963972noreply@blogger.com2
